What Is an SEO Meta Tag Generator?

An SEO meta tag generator turns plain inputs — page title, description, URL, image, keywords and a few social fields — into ready-to-paste HTML tags. You fill in the fields, the tool builds the tag strings, and you copy them into the head of your page.

This generator focuses on the tags that actually affect search and social sharing today: title, meta description, canonical URL, Open Graph and Twitter Card. Live character counters flag titles over 50 to 60 characters and descriptions over 120 to 160 characters so the output stays inside Google's typical display limits.

What the Tool Generates

The output panel assembles these blocks as you type:

  • Title tag — only emitted when the Page Title field is filled in.
  • Meta description, meta keywords and meta author — each emitted only when its field is filled in.
  • A fixed robots tag set to "index, follow" — always emitted.
  • Canonical link — emitted only when Canonical URL is filled in.
  • Open Graph block (og:site_name, og:type, og:url, og:title, og:description, og:image) — emitted only when at least one of site name, URL, title, description or image is filled in.
  • Twitter Card block (twitter:card, twitter:site, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image) — emitted only when at least one of title, description or image is filled in. The card type is always summary_large_image.

How Meta Tags Work

The title tag and meta description are what Google shows as the clickable headline and snippet in search results. The canonical link tells Google which URL is the master version of a page when duplicate or near-duplicate URLs exist. The Open Graph and Twitter Card tags control how the page looks when shared on social platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and X (Twitter).

The tool only generates the HTML tags — it does not submit them to Google or any social platform, and it does not guarantee a specific ranking position. After pasting the tags into the head of your page, Google still decides how to display your listing based on its own algorithms and may rewrite titles or descriptions.

The meta keywords tag is included for completeness but is ignored by Google for ranking purposes; other search engines may still read it. The character counters for title and description follow Google's typical display limits, not strict cut-offs.

How to Use the Meta Tag Generator

  2. Enter the Description (watch the counter turn amber past 120 and red past 160).
  3. Enter the Canonical URL of the page.
  4. Optionally enter Keywords (comma-separated) and the Author brand name.
  5. Under Social Media Tags, enter the Site Name, OG Image URL and Twitter Handle.
  6. Click Copy in the Generated Meta Tags panel and paste the snippet into the head section of your HTML.

Meta Tag Generation Example

Inputs: Page Title "Premium Yoga Mat - Non-Slip 6mm | Brand", Description "Shop the 6mm non-slip yoga mat with alignment lines. Eco-friendly TPE, free shipping over $50.", Canonical URL "https://example.com/yoga-mat-6mm", Keywords "yoga mat, fitness, non-slip", Author "My Store", Site Name "My Store", OG Image URL "https://example.com/yoga-mat.jpg", Twitter Handle "@yourhandle".

The Generated Meta Tags panel shows a title tag, a meta description, a meta keywords tag, a meta author tag, the fixed robots tag, a canonical link, an Open Graph block and a Twitter Card block. Click Copy and paste the snippet into your page head.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

What is the ideal length for a meta title?

Keep meta titles between 50 and 60 characters. The tool shows a live counter under the title field that turns amber above 50 characters and red above 60, so you can see at a glance when Google is likely to truncate the title in search results.

What is the ideal length for a meta description?

Keep meta descriptions between 120 and 160 characters. The description counter turns amber above 120 characters and red above 160. Google may truncate or rewrite descriptions longer than 160 characters when it displays them in search results.

What tags does the generator output?

The generator outputs a title tag, meta description, meta keywords, meta author, a fixed robots tag set to "index, follow", a canonical link, an Open Graph block (og:site_name, og:type, og:url, og:title, og:description, og:image) and a Twitter Card block (twitter:card, twitter:site, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image). Each block is only emitted when at least one of its required fields is filled in.

Why do I need Open Graph and Twitter Card tags?

These tags control how your page previews look when shared on social media. Open Graph tags are read by Facebook and LinkedIn; Twitter Card tags are read by X (Twitter). Without them, social platforms guess the title, description and image, which often produces poor-looking shares and lowers click-through rates.
